Friday Five!
1. What time do you wake up on weekday mornings?
7:30 on Mondays and 7:45 Tuesday through Thursdays. Friday’s… whenever I wake up. Though it’s usually before 10am. It takes me 15 minutes for a shower, 15 minutes to get ready, and 30 minutes to get to work. I’ve got it down to a science. If I’m “really lazy”, I get up at 8:03 Tues-Thurs. Yeeeah. Science.
2. Do you sleep in on the weekends? How late?
Sometimes. Usually my body will automatically wake me up. I do like to use up my weekends, so I feel better about getting up around 10. That’s enough sleeping in time, and just early enough to get stuff done/experience the weekend.
3. Aside from waking up, what is the first thing you do in the morning?
Grab what clothes I’m going to wear for the day, shower.. start the morning rituals.
4. How long does it take to get ready for your day?
Hmm, I seem to have jumped the gun on this Friday Five
It takes me 30 minutes to get ready (shower, dressed, hair, teeth, etc) and 30 minutes to travel to work.
5. When possible, what is your favorite place to go for breakfast?
I don’t really do the breakfast thing. Even at home. If I eat too early, it makes me feel sick. But I’ll go to a decent IHOP (not the Ghetto IHOP on First st in San Jose!) or this place in Castro Valley that Adam has taken me to called Doug’s. It’s that down-home-y old fashioned type of place. Good eats. We ate there after getting back from Vegas.

I’m watching/listening to ‘101 THINGS REMOVED FROM THE HUMAN BODY’. Thanks Fox, I have always wondered what it looked like if a pitchfork got stuck in a face.. or say, what a ton of forks, knives and other various objects looked like after being taken out of a stomach.
In Maya’s words: “these are some interesting dinners peopls are havin’.”
Mmmm hhhmmm.
And yet I still watch.. intrigued.
And while I watch.. I breathe. My chest is doing this funky flutter thing. It’s like.. a small little hiccup in my throat.. a flutter-pulse. Is it some sort of hyperventilating? Am I just strange?
Don’t answer that last one.
So I wanna gripe a bit about my 15% paycut. But I’m conflicted. Is it completely selfish of me to feel bummed about this? I know just having a job is a blessing and maybe I should just shut up. But still, it’s part of my life.
We stub our toes and complain how much it hurt. But should we stop and just relish in the fact that we *have* toes where some people don’t? Lame analogy, but it works enough.
Anyway.. that’s that. I’m done.
But I am doing job searches.. I don’t see things turning around at my work anytime soon. There’s just no business. That’s what sucks about PR work. We go out and practically BEG for clients/jobs and if you don’t get them…. you don’t get $. It just seems different than some other business practices… there’s no steady flow of work. When I worked at Informix/IBM.. constant work! Both were well established companies that always had something going on.
So yah. That’s the deal here in San Jo.
In happy news, there’s a great big wedding to go to on Saturday!!! More on that later…
