Sea of Sweets

Once again I had a great time at the Dishcrawl held at The Fairmont San Jose. Read about the food in my blog post over at The San Jose Blog.

Months and weeks have passed since I last blogged. In this case, it’s not so much OOPS as in OMG THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO. So In the last couple of months, we were told by our apartment complex that HEY! Rent is going up, YO! How much you say?
$400effingdollars?!
Really? Because “Market Rate” um.. why didn’t you slowly raise it over the years? (BTW they covered their bums legally.. we looked into it. It sucks.)
Whatever — so we couldn’t deal with this so we decided to look for a new place. Yes, while we were planning a mid-to-large wedding. Fantastical!
So for a good month/month and a half we kept searching and visiting places. Adam spotted a Craigslist entry for a condo that was only $40 more than our current rent. AND it had central heating/air. Thankfully the property manager let us check it out early and we quickly applied for it. Long story short- we got it! July 15th we got the keys, by the 31st we were fully moved in and left our last (shitty) place in the dust.
NOW we can (again) focus on the wedding prep.
Speaking of wedding…
My SUPER AWESOME GIRLIES both near and far – helped put together an awesome bridal shower for me. There was fun games (Amy put together the TV Couples Match Game, but I’m sorry BUFFY should have matched with SPIKE.. ahem. Moving on…
) and there was the super yummy foodles and treats, and all the gorgeous decorations (BAZINGA!)

Every little touch was great. I think everyone really enjoyed themselves, and I totally thank Iris, Maya, Shannon, and Amy for a great Bridal Shower. I have to say, special thanks to Shannon and Al for opening up their home and backyard to host the event — god knows how much work it goes into prepping, and I am totally thankful to ALL.
So, I’m not a true blogger if I don’t report all that happened at my bridal shower.
We’re sitting at our tables and just started to play the TV Couples Match game… I’m chatting with Janean and Amandeep and other at the table I’m sitting at.. then.. I hear Maya way over at the food table.. “Uh uh.. IRIS!! .. FIRE FIRE!” or something along those lines. I look over and I see Maya standing in front of the table and the table cloth is now missing about a moon-shape arch… because.. it’s on fire.
Ooops!
I BOLT from my chair.. I run over there by Maya and.. for whatever reason I SWAT with my hand, at the fire. ‘Stop it from spreading’ is what my mind was thinking… stop the major flames, then get some water. heh. Smartz!!
After I swat it a bit, Maya swats, then Janean shows up and she swats. I remember nearby is some bottled water (mind you, there are flowers and vases on the table, but I totally don’t think about the WATER in the vases. Ooops.)
Anyway, grab the bottle, spritz the water.. by then Shannon shows up and she’s like “um girls, there is a plant water doodad under the table (no idea!!) and she pours water all over it.
DOOD MY BRIDAL SHOWER HAD PYRO ACTION!!!! I win all bridal showers foreverz.
Yes, in the end, me and a few others now have blisters from the plastic+fire action that happened, but it’s not second-degree burns or shit like that. We survived. It was more of “omg wow” than “call 911″.
I didn’t even tell Adam about it until I saw him. Little did I know, he already knew about it. Heh.
So there was food, games, decor, friends, family and wonderful moments. I loved it ALL.
Thanks again to all that made it possible, I had a GREAT time.
