Ok so I figured, I’m in advertising with hopes to create commercials one day, so I suppose I should talk about one of the year’s biggest advertising events .. the Super Bowl ads.. right?
Favorites:
1. Pepsi Twist – Osbournes: Cute idea.. Osmonds/Osbournes.. funny haha. I wonder how many takes it took Ozzy to get all those lines done right.
2. H&R Block – Willie Nelson: Really the only part I liked was when he would say, “My face is burning..” The delivery of the line was great.
3. Coors Light – Twins: I’m starting to think advertising beer is the way to go. You get to be funny, inventive, etc. This was the most money saving commercial during the entire game. They took their ad that cheers various things about football games, every now and then mentioning “and the twins” … and just rewound, sped it up, etc. “Here’s To The Remote.” They saved OODLES of money to do this very simple ad.
4. Anti Drug PSA – Young Grandparents: Although immediately it was obvious where they were going with this ad, I think it was a new look on the whole anti-drug thing. Though the fact that it cost like $2.1 mil for this ad kinda bothers me. That money could have been put into organizations that help kids beat drug habits or stay away from drugs, etc.. But that’s a whooooole ‘nother issue.
5. Bad Boys II – Mmm Will Smith. OOh explosions. OOOOh car chases. I’m there.
6. Bruce Almighty – I knew Jennifer Aniston was playing in a movie with Jim Carrey, but didn’t know which one it was… now I do. I’d like to give a round of applause to whoever it was that convinced Mr Carrey to go back to doing funny movies. Stay away from Drama, bub!
7. The Matrix sequels – Well.. I’ll just throw this one in there since I’ve already seen the trailers a couple of weeks ago.. but still, excited to see the movies.
There were a bunch more that made me laugh.. but eh.
Oh, the winner in the “Why Didn’t We Think Of This Before?” category goes to Hanes. Tagless t-shirts. Very cool indeed.

In a matter of only a few hours, my last semester at SJSU has gotten brighter.
:: My internship papers are 50% completed – just need to get advisors to sign and voila! I shall be done! I start work February 3rd.
:: My financial aid paid the new $72 university fee increase.
:: I can re-take my watercolor class again and receive another round of units, thus completing my Academic Focus (similar to a minor).
Now to start homework.. I need to read 30 pages for my Abnormal Psychology class. Ya know, lil side note .. I had a dream the other day .. a mini dream, that I had gone to the Abnormal Psych class, but found I wasn’t even registered. I freaked out and tried to find out what happened. I had apparently registered not for “Abnormal Psych” but for “Abdominal Psych”. What a dorky dream.

So, I dreamt of Giles (Anthony Stewart Head for those unaware of who Giles is) last night. Not that way, but he was just in my dream. Basically… a typical Buffy type plot.. something was going to basically end the world. But thankfully, Giles is there, and he makes everything right. So according to him, we (we being a lot of people, but I can only remember Iris and Adam by face) need to simply climb through this air duct type system that goes underground. When we reach the end, we’ll find whatever it is that will help save the world — but if we don’t get to it, we’ll still be safe underground.
So he’s telling everyone to gather a backpack of stuff they want to keep. I quickly get my bag together, and Adam lags behind. I’m getting a bit miffed by the fact he’s not taking it so seriously. Giles has everyone get in a line and start going into the air duct system. Now, infront of me is Iris. She climbs into the system and starts to crawl down it. Well, its my turn, but I notice the opening is very small. It’s like.. um.. I dunno.. average pillow size lets say.
Anyway.. I look at it and I’m completely disappointed. I’m not going to survive! Why? Cause my hips are too wide (haha!). I walk around the building that this air duct thingie is. I walk around, kinda upset, looking around .. its very colorful.. bright green trees, reds and oranges. Giles walks up to me and he’s like “Don’t worry about it, I can’t fit in it either, only a few people could.” He makes me feel better about it, and then.. he tells the rest of us (half of the group) that the first group is going to try to get the thing that will save the world .. so basically they do in a matter of moments.. and everyone is cheering. Yay, world saved!
So what am I doing right now? I’m listening to OMWF (Once More, With Feeling – the musical episode of Buffy) and looking for my tape. And to note, the next time I acquire a significant amount of funds, I shall purchase:

It’s ASH’s cd. hee

So I was looking up some songs to listen to that are in spirit of the Raiders going to the Super Bowl (AC/DC’s Back In Black for example..) and I came across this site. http://www.myhairybrother.com/raiders/ It’s like.. if Weird Al Yankovic was a Raiders fan. Hilarious songs.. check out the new one, “Sweet Home San Diego” tee hee.
:: I’ve come to the conclusion that I need more hard rock in my musical-diet. I have very little .. hmph.

:: I’ve had a couple of creative outbursts today.. each of which did not have a conclusion. Typical, really. I started to do some water color.. that didn’t get very far. The pictures in my head were much prettier and hell, they were completed projects so why bother keep painting right? heh. So all my art stuff is on the dining room table – again. Other art-related news — the class I signed up for.. holy moly. We’re talking way too $ for brushes and paint and canvas stretchers. Bah. So I’m thinking of trying to take (in place of Evil Art Class) the watercolor (or watercolour for my canadian friends – teehee) class i took last summer. I just found out today it’s re-take-able (Jenglish.) sooo yeeah. I called the prof, here’s hoping he’ll respond right?
:: I’m dropping the bowling (yes bowling) class I was going to take. It was a “just for the hell of it” type of class — but being that the class fee was $45.. it was sooo not worth it. Well, if i was some obsessive bowler-type, then perhaps.. cause apparently the “actual” cost was like $80 to $100 for as many times as we’d get to bowl. Bleh. Whatever. Again, not worth it.
:: I keep watching random Trading Spaces episodes and it makes me want to totally decorate this apartment.. however.. I think the apt structure is eh and not fun. I love walls that have odd shapes, unique trim, fun windows. Someday I will live in a totally randomly structured house and go at it like some crazy interior design person. I look forward to having giant sums of $ so I can go to all the “bargain” places (flea markets, antique shops, etc) and buy up totally snazzy items and well.. since i’m on the word kick — snazz up the place.
:: In order to get said giant sums of $ that would mean i’d need a good paying job. To get a good paying job, I need a degree. You don’t get a degree until graduation.. and well.. if I never get my DAMNED INTERNSHIP PAPERS SIGNED I won’t graduate.. get degree.. get job.. get money.. and thus not be able to decorate my home with bargain finds and slops of paint and wood stain.
Hmm.. bitter much?
