So I’m on hold with SBC.. trying to transfer our phone/dsl service to the new apt… and I really need to keep packing. But… how do I stay on hold and use both my hands to pack?

Oh duh the handsfree little mic/headphone thing right….but mine is packed…

So i turn to tape. Blue masking tape.

Yes friends, this recent college grad has taped her cell phone to her head.

……..heh .. as I was typing this, I was finally taken OFF of hold at precisely the exact moment the fire alarm goes off. (The complex is testing the alarms all day today).

Will I EVER get to switch my dsl??

Tape was pulled off (hair + tape = ouch).. and now I can get back to packing while my ears bleed from these damned alarms.

I’m sitting on the floor of my apartment (soon to be old-apt).. exhausted.. stinky… hair very frizzed out… all from moving. All. Day. Long.

I am so thankful for my family and friends, who, in the last few days have shown much love! They’ve attended one of the biggest events in my life, they’ve given me such wonderful gifts, and they’ve helped us move… so big hugs to all!!

I need to keep moving.. cleaning.. organizing.. There are more moving trips to make. Eesh.

I’m so tired…

Because this week’s Friday Five sucks so badly, I’m making up my own. Unless of course, you’d like to know my favorite brand of gum, toothpaste, and toilet paper is.

1. Why did you attend San Jose State University?

Mostly because it’s the college I did the most “research” on. It was generally affordable, and it had a good Computer Science program. (The major I was before Advertising.)

2. If you had to choose a different major, what would you go with now?

I’d say Photography or Photojournalism. Or Seismology.. or Art… or Radio, Television, Video and Film…. Hmm. Too many too choose from! ;)

3. Name three of your favorite courses. Why are they favorites?

Creating A Meaningful Life was a lot of fun. People often considered this a “kindergarten” class. Which is really not a good comparison. Sure we did a lot of “ice breaker” games.. it was very relaxing and sooooo not the stressing classes we’re used to. We had to read Tuesdays With Morrie, and that alone turned out to be one of the best assigned readings I’ve ever had. If you haven’t read this book, I suggest you do so as soon as possible. It’s a quick read, but very fullfilling.

Copywriting was again, another extremely fun class. I finally got to start on my advertising portfolio in this class.

Advertising Campaigns. Oh so much fun. I had the best group imaginable. We all got along pretty well, some of us even knew each other from previous classes and projects, so that’s always great. We had a great campaign (see the Jimmy Fallon/KIA ads in my portfolio) and had loads of fun working on it. That semester was a lot of work, but very rewarding. I loved that semester.

4. Name some of the better aspects of the SJSU campus.

Morris Dailey Auditorium and the Tower Lawn (and surrounding tree covered walkway).

It’s the oldest part of campus and the most landscaped. If you walk down the tree covered walkways at just the right time, the light filters through the trees, and you listen to the bell chime the hour…. it’s really a great mini-experience. It fits that stereotypical college look you see in movies and television.

Dwight Bentel Hall. Ok so maybe I’m a bit biased, because this is the school of Journalism & Mass Comm’s building… however, it’s just a pretty as Morris Dailey. It’s also one of the oldest buildings on campus, and shows it’s age through it’s structure and ivy covered walls. Upon closer inspection, you can find interesting details on the wall.

Like the squirrels running beneath the trees…

Oh and there’s even the Stairs to Nowhere… heh. (Here you can see my friend Kevin showing how indeed, the stairs do not lead anywhere… but the wall.)

5. Name five memories of SJSU.

:: Rollerblading with Maya and getting caught by UPD.

:: Midnight Kooshball, football, and random games. (Like watching Maya and Iris in grocery cart racing.)

:: “garbage parties”, DC dinners, movie nights, and generally all things Thirdeven.

:: Campus vigils (Matthew Shepard, 9-11, etc)

:: Walking around campus, enjoying the day and observing students.

:: Tomorrow and Saturday’s “future” memories… graduation. Wooo!!!
