Friday Five!

1. What time do you wake up on weekday mornings?

7:30 on Mondays and 7:45 Tuesday through Thursdays. Friday’s… whenever I wake up. Though it’s usually before 10am. It takes me 15 minutes for a shower, 15 minutes to get ready, and 30 minutes to get to work. I’ve got it down to a science. If I’m “really lazy”, I get up at 8:03 Tues-Thurs. Yeeeah. Science.

2. Do you sleep in on the weekends? How late?

Sometimes. Usually my body will automatically wake me up. I do like to use up my weekends, so I feel better about getting up around 10. That’s enough sleeping in time, and just early enough to get stuff done/experience the weekend.

3. Aside from waking up, what is the first thing you do in the morning?

Grab what clothes I’m going to wear for the day, shower.. start the morning rituals.

4. How long does it take to get ready for your day?

Hmm, I seem to have jumped the gun on this Friday Five ;) It takes me 30 minutes to get ready (shower, dressed, hair, teeth, etc) and 30 minutes to travel to work.

5. When possible, what is your favorite place to go for breakfast?

I don’t really do the breakfast thing. Even at home. If I eat too early, it makes me feel sick. But I’ll go to a decent IHOP (not the Ghetto IHOP on First st in San Jose!) or this place in Castro Valley that Adam has taken me to called Doug’s. It’s that down-home-y old fashioned type of place. Good eats. We ate there after getting back from Vegas.

I’m watching/listening to ‘101 THINGS REMOVED FROM THE HUMAN BODY’. Thanks Fox, I have always wondered what it looked like if a pitchfork got stuck in a face.. or say, what a ton of forks, knives and other various objects looked like after being taken out of a stomach.

In Maya’s words: “these are some interesting dinners peopls are havin’.”

Mmmm hhhmmm.

And yet I still watch.. intrigued.

And while I watch.. I breathe. My chest is doing this funky flutter thing. It’s like.. a small little hiccup in my throat.. a flutter-pulse. Is it some sort of hyperventilating? Am I just strange?

Don’t answer that last one.

So I wanna gripe a bit about my 15% paycut. But I’m conflicted. Is it completely selfish of me to feel bummed about this? I know just having a job is a blessing and maybe I should just shut up. But still, it’s part of my life.

We stub our toes and complain how much it hurt. But should we stop and just relish in the fact that we *have* toes where some people don’t? Lame analogy, but it works enough.

Anyway.. that’s that. I’m done.

But I am doing job searches.. I don’t see things turning around at my work anytime soon. There’s just no business. That’s what sucks about PR work. We go out and practically BEG for clients/jobs and if you don’t get them…. you don’t get $. It just seems different than some other business practices… there’s no steady flow of work. When I worked at Informix/IBM.. constant work! Both were well established companies that always had something going on.

So yah. That’s the deal here in San Jo.

In happy news, there’s a great big wedding to go to on Saturday!!! More on that later…

Iris found this cool site. Based on your answers, it tells you where the best places for you to live are. Here’s mine:

1. San Francisco, CA

2. Boston, MA-NH-ME

3. Seattle-Bellevue-Everett, WA

4. Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA

5. San Diego, CA

6. Oakland, CA

7. San Jose, CA

8. Long Island, NY

9. Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV

10. Orange County, CA

::skip some random places::

33. Honolulu, HI

96. Las Vegas, NV-AZ

277. Modesto, CA (Daaaamn that’s far down the list.)

But interestingly enough, San Francisco, Seattle, and San Diego have always been on my list of places I’d like to live someday.

Vegas…. vegas…… vegas.

First off, Happy Birthday to Monica! Hence the Vegas-trip… it was reeeeally fun!

Casinos:

Luxor :: This is where we stayed. First in a tower room, but then we moved to the pyramid. Much more fun and a better view. Too bad it didn’t have a bathtub for our sore feet!

The Venetian :: A pretty place, love the gondolas and stores.. Planning a trip back for April.

Bellagio :: Went there to see the Chihuly pieces on the ceiling. Also saw the garden.. didn’t venture much farther than that, but from what I saw, it was another pretty casino.

Excalibur :: Second time here, it’s pretty cheeseball compared to the others. It’s more of a family place.

Mandalay Bay :: Pretty snazzy from what I saw. Mostly stuck around one area.

New York New York :: Casual fun, family casino. Mean rollercoaster (boo headaches), but fun regardless of the pain.

Monte Carlo :: Didn’t see much, seemed more of a ‘classic’ casino.. at least felt like it. The brewery there was really good.

Aladdin :: Same as last year! Better stores, more of a ‘bargain’ than most. Bought a ring, woo 50% deals!

Bars & Clubs

Studio 54 :: Free! Best music of all the clubs in my opinion. I was overwhelmed when I first walked in. But I got into the groove of things within a few minutes. Drinks were expensive as all hell. Where else can you get a bottle of water for $4? Oh maybe Disneyland. I took a fun photo of Maya here.. but I don’t think I’m going to be allowed to post it. (OOOh you just got curious didn’t you?)

Coyote Ugly :: Free! Bra stayed on (i like my bras thankyouverymuch), I danced on the bar (me?? yup), got a shot of Apple Pucker for freeee too.

Nine Fine Irishmen :: Cozy pub, didn’t stay too long. Will return there someday.

rumjungle :: Ooooooh such a well decorated place. Wall of drinkie was quite the sight. Dancers on stages, dancers in the air on wires, dancers in cages in the air. Cool bathroom.. recognized it from the Travel Channel’s Worlds Best Vegas Bathrooms.. it’s the one with the gap between the guys/girls bathroom walls.

Red Square :: A couple of thiings come to mind here. Kryptonite, tracking down a specific host, and the non-matchbook chocolate ;) Oh yea.. and $10 drinks. eesh.

House of Blues :: Good food. Fun club. Comfy booths.

Ok that’s all I wanna talk about Vegas. Bottom line, it was fun. I don’t have any money left because of it, but it was worth it.

Whenever I get my photos developed, I’ll post some.
