The Five of Friday.

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

1. Do you like to shop? Why or why not?

I love to shop for gifts. It’s just a lot of fun to search for something that reminds you of the person you’re shopping for. Maybe it’s in reference to an inside joke, a past memory, or maybe it’s that one item that they’ve been wanting for such a long time.. etc. So it’s just a ton of fun to go out and shop for those things.

2. What was the last thing you purchased?

The last thing I purchased is a 1928 necklace from Macy’s. It’s copper and has a small pendant that is a yellow mother of pearl. It’s purty.

3. Do you prefer shopping online or at an actual store? Why?

I check the online sites first.. Target, BestBuy, Macys, etc. It depends what I’m looking for. I’ve purchased things from Amazon online, and someday intend on purchasing something from Uncommon Goods (but they don’t have a retail store, they’re merely online). But yeah, I generally just use the online sites as reference and purchase the items in person. Why spend money on shipping and handling when you can just go to the store and avoid those extra charges?

4. Did you get an allowance as a child? How much was it?

I did. At one point I think it was $20 a month. Then $20 every two weeks. Something like that I think.

5. What was the last thing you regret purchasing?

I dunno about the ‘last thing’ but one that comes to mind is my little green sewing machine. I have yet to use it, I think I broke it. Hah. I found a deal through slickdeals and got it from.. yes.. The Home Shopping Network.

What can I say? It was “Sew Cute” (And only $20) — I’m such the sucker.

Giving of the Thanks.

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

In the spirit of Thanksgiving this week…

Thank you for the hugs, the well-wishes, the prayers, and understanding this year.

When I broke into tears without warning, you were there for me.

When I’m goofy and acting strange to amuse you, you still accepted me and perhaps, goofed right along with me. I appreciate that. (At least I’m not the only crazy one then. ;) )

To my family and friends, Thank you.

First off, Mom & Dad: Thank you for the love and support you give me each day. Thank you for the hugs, the college education, the understanding… everything.

Adam: Thank you for being there for me this year. You’ve been very strong for me when I couldn’t be. Thank you for coming to my grandmother and uncle’s funerals as well. It really meant a lot to me. You’re such a great boyfriend!

Iris, Maya, and Shanta: Thank you for being great friends. I will always consider you my honorary sisters. Thanks for being there for me this year for making me laugh and for laughing along with me when I needed it. Hugs to all!!

And thanks to everyone else.. Marc, Vijay, Umang, Al, Shannon, Matt, Debbie, Monica, Lorenzo, Lonny, Kevin, Ranya, Amy, Kendra, Dan, Jennilyn, Jenn, Kimmie, Amber, Amandeep, Rebekah — you guys are awesome. Thanks for everything.. from being great apartment-mates (Marc, Vijay, Umang), for inviting me to your wedding (Al & Shannon), for all the great conversations – silly to serious (Matt, Debbie, Lorenzo, Lonny), for being wonderful group members and friends (Kevin, Ranya), for being friends-from-afar (Amy, Kendra, Dan, Jennilyn, Jenn), high school & forever friends (Kimmie, Amber, Amandeep, Rebekah) …

You are all very awesome friends and I’m so thankful to have you in my life.

And I know some might find it silly to post this, but..

To my Grandma and Uncle Steve. Thank you for all the memories that flood my mind each day of both of you. Photos and videos will never do you justice, but they do help ease some pain. I don’t know who’s higher plan it was to take you from the rest of us and I still feel bitter and angry about it. I’ll get better as time passes.. but I miss you both dearly.

And to those of you I don’t know but you read this on a daily / semi-daily basis — Thank you for finding some kind of interest in my mundane life. It really makes me feel great to see the hits I get on my site. You guys are awesome too!

I <3 IKEA

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

Minus some of the furniture that didn’t look sturdy enough – IKEA is wonderful.

So what did I buy on my first ever trip to the wonder that is IKEA?

:: A simple clock for the bathroom. :: $2.99

:: A blue vase :: $2.99

:: A striped tealight holder to match the one Amy gave me. :: $.99

:: 3 spools of ribbon. Blue, silver, and green. :: $.99 ea

:: 2 tubes of gift wrap. Lime green, baby blue. :: $1.99 ea

:: Set of 2 wooden chopping boards. :: $4.99

:: Rubber spatula. :: $.49

:: 3 silver and 3 blue pieces of star-garland. :: $3.00

:: New mousepad for work. :: $.99

Grand total… $24.78!

Ya know, without having homework to do anymore.. I seem to spend all my extra time shopping and buying random necessary items.

Eesh, just think if I were into buying clothes.

Isn’t interesting how some people have certain items they love to buy? That they have to have a billion different pieces of?

My high school AP english teacher had a thing for shoes. Months would go by and we’d never see the same shoe twice. Now, evertime I see those porcelin, collectible shoes I think that she must collect those as well.

Personally, I have a problem with buying too many…

frames

(minus the handfull I actually have on shelves or my desk)

and ribbon

So what do you buy?
