Office Space

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

Around four o’clock today a coworker of mine cheerily announced down the hall that the entire staff was going on a field trip.

A field trip!

I hopped in the car with a coworker and our boss and we drove around corner to check out our new digs. As we left the driveway, I joked “Should we have put a note on the door – We’re on a field trip – Free computers inside!

We won’t be the lovely Mediterranean style mansion come the end of May. We’ll be in a “standard” office setting. Today was the tenant inspection day – make your opinions known. Do we remove a wall and create one big room? Does the __ need cleaned? Etc Etc. Some people chose their offices, they asked me where I’d want to be, but I don’t mind much. I guess my only wish would be that the office I reside in isn’t the Grand Central Station like my current one. I’m all for sharing, I know I will need to, but hopefully with just one person. Oh and if I have a window, that’d be nice too. I will miss the french doors and balcony my current office has.

I’m super glad we’re not going to cubicles. As the kids used to say, been there, done that. I spent a summer doing data entry at an internatIonal dataBase coMpany. Although the work was easy and pay was great, I disliked the cubicles.

Wherever I end up, I’m thinking of putting up some of my photos for decoration. I only have one photo on my corkboard at work. It’s an old photo that I took with a cheapie throw-away of my grandmother and grandpa sitting at our patio table with the pretty roses in the background.

I took a few pics of the offices but won’t be posting anytime soon. Maybe down the road as decoration takes place. It’ll be fun to take photos as we move in and design the areas.

Dinner with our Movie Star

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

Matt (our very own movie star with kung-fu action grip!) came up to visit us common folk. We went to the hippest joint in Union City, Tony Roma’s.

Potatoes were ordered.
Barbecued meat was violently ripped from bones.
Wackiness ensued.

We went to Tony Roma’s. Out of all the Romas, Tony’s is the best.

Shh. Everyone is thinking.

Adam and Iris have elbow wars. I think Iris won. Go Iris!

Iris is excited for the barbecued fleshy animal meat.

Run little piggies, run!

Announcement: Adam is crazy

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

Don’t you hate it when you’re exhausted ALL THE TIME and feel sick, and yet, you have to keep on moving.. (nobody’s gonna break my stride, nobody’s gonna slow me down – oh no….) hah.

ok see? I’m a bit looped.

Last night Adam and I went out to celebrate our 6th year. Nothing fancy, just dinner. But because of my looped out status, I don’t think and I ended up embarrassing Adam. teehee.

The waiter came to take our order. Adam ordered first, a prime rib dish. The waiter asked if he wanted soup or salad – but to my foggy head it just sounded like he asked what sides Adam wanted. Adam responded “potato” (again, foggy head – he REALLY said “potato soup”) But like i said, I thought he just said potato, like as in a baked potato. Mmmm right?

Then the guy asked something else.. and Adam responded with “fries”.

This threw me off, before thinking I blurted “You’re having two kinds of potatoes?!”

hee. Adam gave me a “thanks you just embarrassed me” look. I ordered my meal and the waiter left. As he was out of earshot Adam asked me if I could try not to make him seem so crazy in public.

HAHA. Like there’s anything *I* can do about that, Adam! I decided to point out that Adam had, numerous times before, worn a short sleeve shirt and shorts while it was freezing and raining outside. So perhaps he should be used to looking crazy in the eyes of the public.

Ok, I must work now – here are some links for your enjoyment..

Google Sightseeing: I’m obsessed with this site and using various imagery maps (terraserver, google/keyhole, etc)

Cute kitty video: Originally pointed out by Sarah – I too could watch this all day. It’s soooo adorable. But I’m also in this big “I want a kitty” phase, so perhaps I’m a bit biased.

My Uncle Mike is a STAR!

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

My uncle emailed me (and the rest of the family and his friends) the other day sharing the crazy news that he will be on TV. So I found the program and put it on my TiVo to-do list and went shopping for the day.

Came back just as the last show had finished airing, grabbed the remote and beep-beep-beeped through several moments of the show.

There is he, in his 5 seconds of television fame on A&E’s “Find & Design” show. Too bad the lady didn’t talk with him and buy something.

(Edit: They DID buy something from him, a nightstand and originally it was going to be the “Find of the Day”, but because they talked about this on camera too much, it got cut out later when they found something else and considered that item to be a better find. Ah well.)

Though I’m sure he’s thinking two things in this shot.
1) I’m going to stand here because the camera is pointed in this direction. I’m gonna be a STAR!

2) That lady better not break anything… I’ll just charge her extra for it.

Once, he said he was supposed to be on Extreme Makeover: House Edition or whatever it’s called, but that didn’t happen. Poot.

Now, I don’t need to be rushed with autograph requests, he is a very busy man. One at a time folks. Oh and it’s $35 for an 8×10, and I do accept Visa and Mastercard. ;)

Time to Pack!

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

We tore up the lawn. Our balcony looks so sad.. so.. very.. empty.

Before

After

We cleaned.
We apartment-hunted.
We bought boxes.
EXCITING WEEKEND people. All kidding aside, we needed to buckle down and get some stuff done and I’m glad we did.

We won’t actually be moving until the beginning of June, but starting early will help us in the long run.

Actually, I found out there might be a LOT of moving around June – my company might move locations around the same time. Which means a packing and cleaning at the office AND at our apartment. oh joy.

So far, we might be moving into the complex next to the one we’re already in. So the moving process might not be as huge as it normally is.
