Office Space
Around four o’clock today a coworker of mine cheerily announced down the hall that the entire staff was going on a field trip.
A field trip!
I hopped in the car with a coworker and our boss and we drove around corner to check out our new digs. As we left the driveway, I joked “Should we have put a note on the door – We’re on a field trip – Free computers inside!“
We won’t be the lovely Mediterranean style mansion come the end of May. We’ll be in a “standard” office setting. Today was the tenant inspection day – make your opinions known. Do we remove a wall and create one big room? Does the __ need cleaned? Etc Etc. Some people chose their offices, they asked me where I’d want to be, but I don’t mind much. I guess my only wish would be that the office I reside in isn’t the Grand Central Station like my current one. I’m all for sharing, I know I will need to, but hopefully with just one person. Oh and if I have a window, that’d be nice too. I will miss the french doors and balcony my current office has.
I’m super glad we’re not going to cubicles. As the kids used to say, been there, done that. I spent a summer doing data entry at an internatIonal dataBase coMpany. Although the work was easy and pay was great, I disliked the cubicles.
Wherever I end up, I’m thinking of putting up some of my photos for decoration. I only have one photo on my corkboard at work. It’s an old photo that I took with a cheapie throw-away of my grandmother and grandpa sitting at our patio table with the pretty roses in the background.
I took a few pics of the offices but won’t be posting anytime soon. Maybe down the road as decoration takes place. It’ll be fun to take photos as we move in and design the areas.
