I found Pooh in the garbage room.

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

He looked guilty.

I asked him where Piglet was. Piglet was always around Pooh.

Pooh cracked an evil smile and continued to stare at the garbage chute in silence.

Random bitty bits

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

I have nothing of real substance to post. So here are some things that make me happy this week:

Flickr announced
oodles of goodies including their partnership with Qoop (posters, photo books), englaze (DVD backups), and Zazzle (tshirts, posters, cards, and stamps)aaaand the long awaited – prints! We can now order prints from our Flickr sets, and if we so choose, can pick them up within a few hours at our local Target store. How fabulous is that??

Let’s see, what else.

This amuses me (thanks Maya!) Send it to your friends – Turkey Day is just around the corner!

Oh and a minor General Hospital spoiler and outburst — Rick Springfield is returning to GH as Dr. Noah Drake!! I think this means they’re actually giving Bobbie a storyline, ::GASP::

Ok, silly soap opera outburst is finished.

And that’s it folks. No new pictures to post.. nothing terribly exciting going on. I’m planning for a party in December, prepping ideas for Christmas gifts, filling frames and desperately trying to decorate the apartment.

Oh and yearning to scratch the ‘I need to redesign my website’ itch that I have.

Television Newscast Euphemisms

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

TV squad posted about a funny article about what sayings used to mean and what they mean now.
Some of my favorites, (now with two drops of commentary!)

“Storm Central is in full gear!”
OLD: A major, possibly record-breaking storm is headed our way and there is important information you need to know for your safety.
NEW: It’s looking sorta cloudy, isn’t it?

This is almost embarrassing, at least as it applies to us Californians. I really think we have problems when it comes to weather, at the first sign of clouds or a light drizzle, it becomes Storm Watch 2005 with Doppler radar going popping up in between favorite daytime programming left and right. Insane.

“Go to our website for more information.”
OLD: Go to our website for the exact same information.
NEW: Go to our website for more information buried among car ads, Google ads, our marketing message, our “community” work, team bios, show schedules and how to buy advertising on our channel.

Exactly why I never go to my local news website’s. (Unless I am doing research at work and even then I try to use Bacon’s Media Source first)

“Are your children in danger? Watch us tonight to find out.”
OLD: Yes, there is contaminated water at our playground that is making children ill.
NEW: No they aren’t. Good tease writing, though.

Oh this one is annoying. I know you have to draw in viewers, and tapping into fear as a way to draw attention is always fashionable (as it is one of the great motivators, and a widely argued one at that) but GEEZ really. I’ve heard one about a million times, about the “common household product” that may cause various life-threatening diseases. Oh but we can’t learn about it for another 3 hours. Meanwhile, I’ll just be over there, cleaning my windows or mopping the floor with water because now I’m afraid I’m about to die. Whatever. I figure we’re not going to drop dead because if it was REALLY THAT LIFE THREATENING, maybe, just maybe the news would actually stop programming and break in and tell us to throw our Windex or Pine-Sol out the window.

But, it would seem, those attention grabbing moments are merely for those that do not watch your specific station on a regular basis. Grab a few more viewers for the night – which, again, another point – the life threatening household object story doesn’t show up until toward the end of the news broadcast. Right before the kicker about the little kid who goes door to door to get money for a charity or the little puppy that was saved from the hole in the ground.

Ok first off, I’m officially brainwashed because I remember those numbers by heart now.

Anyway – 840+ people are a bunch of sillyheads. They used the numbers in the recent Powerball lotto drawing.

Silly people! First off, helloooo the numbers are cursed! ;)

Secondly, if for some mystical (or perhaps media-conglomerate-promotion-fever) reason these numbers were winning numbers – you’d have to share your bazillion dollars with all those other sillyheads.

Superballs update

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

Awhile back, I posted about a photo of a bazillion superballs bouncing down a street in San Francisco. It was all a part of a mysterious commercial filming, and finally it’s time to see the commercial!

Here’s the final product!

If you want to see more goodies (desktop designs, a behind-the-scenes video, etc) check out the official Sony BRAVIA advertisement site.

I found the link to the commercial from a comment someone left on flickr user sepiatone’s photo.

Walking the Boardwalk

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

Adam’s company gives him his birthday off (actually a day within a week of his birthday, he has an option as to which day he can take) so he took Friday off and since I had a few extra hours left, I took it off as well.

Somewhat early in the morning we went to Stacks in Campbell for some yummy pancakes and then off to Santa Cruz we went! Now, I didn’t bother looking up details about the Boardwalk because 1) I thought Adam had and 2) I never really know it’s not summer anymore until it’s pouring rain – and well it’s still warm. Warm = summer.

So.. yeah. The Boardwalk was closed. However, to me this was just as good as it being open. Free reign and no crowds. We walked up and down the Boardwalk taking pictures and just checking out what we could. Luckily for us, there was some open entertainment – the arcade. So we played some air hockey (Adam won) and random video games. I like playing the older games that you just don’t see often anymore.

I even made Adam a good-luck-birthday-charm!

(If you can’t read it, the charm says “ASS MUFFIN” on it. That’s my nickname for Adam.)

We checked out the beach and made our way home.

Coordination

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

Adam and I have been discussing how we need to check out Macy’s for a new comforter considering the one we use now is a twin sized one. Our bed is a California King, so you can only image how pathetic our bed looks.

Today we were talking about the color that this comforter should be. I’m voting for dark, rich blue or a dark/charcoal grey – mostly the latter. This would allow me to play with what photos and decorations will be going into the room without having to stick to a strict color theme. It’ll also allow me to change the decorations when I tire of them.

So there was that conversation.

We’re also talking about getting a kitty.

The following is something Adam said to me today that sent me into a giggle fit at work…

“Do we want to get a kitty that also matches the comforter? That way the hair won’t stand out as much?”

Sigh.

craving the creamy chocolate

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

The above is a picture of quite possibly the world’s best hot chocolate. On our last day in Paris, Shanta brought us to this little cafe for the experience.

The chocolate was thick, creamy, and oh so good.

You know how sometimes in the morning if you smell coffee, bacon, or toast and your stomach does that lurching growl? I see this photo and my tummy weeps.

In the spring, on my next trip to Paris, visiting Les Deux Magots will be considered top priority.
