Superman Returns

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

Tonight I saw the 10pm showing of Superman Returns… a movie I have been waiting for several years now.

When the movie was over, my friends looked at me, waiting for a reaction. What was my response? A giant smile across my face.

I’m giddy. I am full of gid over this movie. So what did I like? As much as I’d love to sit and write every little silly detail – I won’t. I won’t ruin it for others.

But I will say a few things-

Brandon Routh did an excellent job. As a Superman fan, I am completely happy with the director/producer/etc’s choice. When all the hubbub was going around, “who was going to be Superman?” and actors who CANNOT ACT were being named, I seeeethed. I, like many others, wanted an unknown. We got one, and he did a damn good job. In my opinion of course – however I’ve read some reviews and they’re pretty much in favor of him as well. I remember seeing early photos from the movie and noticed (as did others) how much he resembled Christopher Reeve. Well he did throughout the movie.. some mannerisms and even his voice. This is not a bad thing, this is not Routh replacing Reeve, but he is making the transition/connection much smoother.

The sets, details, costumes, etc — all wonderfully done.

Spacey as Luthor – I was a little skeptical about this, but he did a great job too. Bosworth wasn’t strong enough as Lois for me.

There are a lot of nods and paying homage to past Superman legacy (tv show, movies) and that just made it a very warm movie.

Maybe later I’ll talk more about what I enjoyed, give everyone a chance to see it before I go blabbing about specific details and plot twists. But for now I’ll be nice and not give anything away.

If you’re going to go to this movie looking for something a la Spiderman and X-Men – then don’t go. If you want a mix of emotions, story, and legacy – then this is the way the Superman story is to be experienced.

A great way to start the weekend!

Published by Jennifer under mattnathanson

Matt Nathanson FINALLY performed a show in San Jose. He was here for KFOG’s “Music in the Other Park” – playing in St James Park (which is usually a park you don’t really want to hang out in, but events are great there.)

I tell ya, I have been so excited for this concert. It was tough getting through the workday – at least I was kept very busy and therefore focused.

So Matt was talking to some fans at the little fence so Iris and I waited until he was free. I got a hug! I haven’t had a Matty Nay Nay hug in forevah. Ok so you’re like “um it’s a hug” – NO NO NO. His hugs are special. So after that we took some pictures.

Me & Matty Nay Nay!

Then he went on stage and rocked out.

This was the first time I was really able to use my new camera and lens at a Matt show – and omg i’m so haaaappy with my camera and lens! Check out my Matt Nathanson set for a few more pics. I will upload more later.

For now, I gotta go pack and get ready for our trip to LA/San Diego this weekend.

Show me how pretty the world is…

Nobody’s Watching

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

Ok so check this out. Writers of Scrubs and Family Guy produced a pilot called “Nobody’s Watching” about two guys in their mid-twenties who love everything about television and after submitting a pilot idea, they get their own sitcom on the WB. If it were only that easy, right?

Anyway, it’s part sitcom, part reality show. They poke fun at typical sitcom moments, play with the audience, and do some of those silly things you’d wish characters would do (or perhaps you’d want to do given the chance to play on a set.)

Well, sadly, the WB passed on the show. Now maybe the world isn’t ready for something so silly and perhaps the pilot needed some polishing, but I think it could have had at least half a season.

Luckily, someone in charge decide to put the entire pilot up on YouTube (love it!) and you must check it out. Check out the stages the boys have to live on – oh and there are a few surprises too.

BIG SURprise

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

Big Sur

Saturday, my parents and I took a day adventure to Monterey and Big Sur where I filled up my memory card with 200+ photos. That’s a pretty good run right? Well, most of them are still ON the memory card because I have run out of space on my computer. Even though I’ve been aware of my lacking space issue for some time (even purchased plenty of CDs for backups and CD covers for creative labels and EVERYTHING), I was still shocked when my computer informed me no more files were to be crammed into every nook and cranny.

Time to do some backing up and deleting! Weeee!

The Monkey Chow Diet

Published by Jennifer under Uncategorized

So there is this guy out there that has decided to eat nothing but food designed for primates. You know, I’m gonna leave it right there and just give you some links and a video to watch. Enjoy!

Monkey Chow Diaries: Day 4

My favorite quotes:

“I’m not an accountant.. but I do have a clipboard.”

“I’m eating less than a pound per day, so that works out to about a dollar a day in food costs for a meal that’s totally nutritious-meets all my needs, I think.

“All of that was wasted money… I could have just bought Monkey Chow.”

Read his Blog, check out the Monkey Chow Diaries, and be sure to watch those videos. I must say, he’s got the dry humor thing down.

This man is crazy.
