Boo Movie Industry, Booooo.

Published by Jennifer under movies

Aw hell it’s not like it had a lot of my faith.. but COME ON.

Rumor: Nicholas Cage as Magnum P.I.?

This rumor makes me want to dry heave and poke my eyes out.

Tom Selleck only. Or don’t remake the damn thing.

It is so disgusting when they have these ideas of ‘bringing back classics’ or however you want to categorize it and yet they tweak it and mess with it so much it either becomes a mockery of the show or a complete failure. Frankly I think the only one that worked was the Brady Bunch movie.

Anyway. Why do they insist on giving Nicholas Cage roles? Seriously, can’t he just go live in his castle somewhere and stay there? Does the movie industry REALLY need him? If they needed an emotionless lump they could just hire a boulder. It might have more character than he does anyway.

My stomach hurts. Why’d he have to go and name his kid Kal-El too? WTF? Go AWAY NICHOLAS CAGE. Go. Away.

If We Shadows Have Offended…

Published by Jennifer under video

Absolutely amazing crossover video – House M.D. and Dead Poets Society. I’m not sure if you’ll get the full umph if you haven’t seen DPS, but it’s such a good crossover video – you’ll probably enjoy it regardless.

(Thanks for pointing it out to me Amy!)

Music Meme: By The Letter

Published by Jennifer under mattnathanson, meme, music

Music Meme! Amy gave me the letter P. You’re supposed to do at least 10 songs, but there might be more.. here are my faves in no particular order (and only going by songs listed on my iTunes – I’m lazy that way.):

  1. Pacific Coast Party – Smashmouth
This song is fun to just blast and goof around to. I’ll play it in the apartment when I’m cleaning or working on a project, just needing some peppy fun music.

  2. Papercut – Linkin Park
Another good one to blast. GRR!
  3. Particle Man – They Might Be Giants
Ok this one is just silly… but it reminds me of the segment in Tiny Toons where they did a little music video to it. Cute, fun, boppy.
  4. Paul McCartney – Scissor Sisters
“Doo doot doo doot!” 70s discoish.. total fun. If it doesn’t make you dance or peppy.. you have no soul.
  5. Philadelphia Song – Matt Nathanson
This is off his “At the Point” live album. It’s not a ‘real song’ but it is damn hilarious. You have to hear it; it’s a good example of Matt Nathanson’s humor and why when you’re at one of his shows you are not only hearing great music but you get a comedy show as well. Hi-larious. Sigh. I can’t wait until Nov 2nd… [d/l the song, give it a listen!]
  6. Possession – Sarah McLachlan
Of course Sarah has to be on this list and wouldn’t you know, it’s the first Sarah song I heard. It’s a beautiful song and I remember Jenn telling me one day that while yes it comes across as a beautiful song and some people tend to think of it romantically – it’s actually based on how Sarah was stalked at one point. It’ll be a little creepy after you think about that, but still, a beautiful song. Sarah could sing about stinky diapers or spoiled milk and it would still sound beautiful.
  7. Power of Love – Huey Lewis & The News
I love Huey Lewis & The News – well at least one of their old albums. My mom had a huge collection of tapes and I think HL&TN was the only 80s album she had. I’d pop that sucker in our stereo and sit next to it with headphones and listen for hours. HL&TN reminds me of my childhood.. traveling to Grandma’s house, and of course watching Back to the Future.
  8. The Prayer – Josh Groban / Charlotte Church
I’m not religious by any means but I love this song. It makes me sad (actually, a lot of Josh Groban songs do now) because some of them have been used for two funerals in the last five years. But, it also makes me smile because it was an artist that I know my Grandpa liked – that we had a little music connection to. We played a few of Groban’s songs for my Grandma’s funeral and since then my mom would play a couple of his albums when taking my Grandpa places. He’d ask to hear the “young guy”. Groban has such a powerful voice. It’s not my favorite Groban song, but it’s sweet and reminds me of sad times.. and sometimes you just have to think of those times.
  9. Pretty The World – Matt Nathanson
Do I really have to explain why Matt Nathanson gets two spots on this list? I’d throw in Princess and Prove to Me as well ;) But this one gets the real listing, if you heard it you’d hear how he rips into the guitar from time to time. Ohmigawd it is so awesome to see that live. Just.. oh man. Nov 2nd.. that’s not *that* far from now right?
  10. Push – Moist
Moist made the list! Ok so they’re no longer a band but thanks to Jenn I was introduced to their music and thus it started an obsession with Canadian music from about 1997 to somewhere in the early 2000s.

Anyone want a letter?

FOX needs help

Published by Jennifer under phooey, television

ABC, NBC, CBS.. you guys need to get together for one in need of serious help. An intervention is needed.

FOX is having some serious issues. No, I’m not talking about the skewed political views or any upcoming ‘wild’ programming (No, there will not be a show called WHEN BABIES ATTACK or anything like that.)

This is something much more serious than that. I believe the fate of the world is at hand…

FOX has hired Ryan Seacrest to host not only one but two major events this year.
The Super Bowl AND The Emmys.

What could this mean? Bad Jokes, American Idol references, SHOUTING SHOUTING SHOUTING. The Joker has a calmer smile. I could go on but it hurts my brain to do so.

So come together for a greater good. Make the pain stop… for FOX… but mostly for us.

SYTYCD Obsessed

Published by Jennifer under television, video

I’m completely obsessed with So You Think You Can Dance. I LOVE this show. So obsessed am I that there is a chance I will buy some tickets and go see the performance show in November.

Anyway. Not only is the show totally fun to watch but it’s caused me to fly to iTunes everytime I hear a song I like.

So below is a clip from the show, actually from the most recent episode, where Lacey and Pasha perform a hip-hop number. Hip-hop is not their normal style, but they’re doing damn good. Plus Pasha plays with the character a bit and makes it such a cute performance… man oh man. PASHA! Love it.

Now watch this jazz number performed by Neil and Sabra. They’re the top two performers in my opinion. I’ve been a believer since early on that Sabra will win this year’s competition.

AND then.. watch Neil and Sabra perform their paso doble routine. If you only want to pay attention to a few seconds, watch 3:00-2:45. Ohmigawd.

LOVE IT.
