Illusion of Time
Scientists have found that the reason why time seems to go slower when one is in danger is because it’s simply an illusion.
Eagleman added this illusion “is related to the phenomenon that time seems to speed up as you grow older. When you’re a child, you lay down rich memories for all your experiences; when you’re older, you’ve seen it all before and lay down fewer memories. Therefore, when a child looks back at the end of a summer, it seems to have lasted forever; adults think it zoomed by.”
This is so true – and equally depressing. Just yesterday, Adam and I were out and overheard a few college students having conversations about various trips they were going to take. Every other phrase could have easily been “in my copious amount of free time”, as that’s how it felt. I asked Adam, “Remember what it was like to not care about time?” We sighed. I know, “oh boo hoo Jen, you grew up“, hah, but STILL.
Oh and just in case you were wondering, the scientists have made this spectacular finding:
“We discovered that people are not like Neo in The Matrix, dodging bullets in slow-mo.”

Daft Punk: Hands and Bodies
If you’ve heard Kanye West’s song “Stronger” then you’ve heard Daft Punk’s “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” because Kanye sampled it in his song. Anyway… I love the internet and all it’s weird people. They provide me with such amusement and glee. Apparently there’s a fun little meme on youtube with users posting their homemade videos to the Daft Punk song. It started with this “hand”made video. har har.. but it’s amusing. It is slow at first, but just watch the whole thing.
And then, watch this – it’s a different twist.

Let’s do the time warp again!

Welcome to 1987!
Alrighty, here’s the scoop – my oh so wonderful and generous parents bought me a scanner for Christmas! I’ve been wanting/needing one for awhile now and thought I’d put it on my list. I need to scan family photos (and would like to scan my old photos, film, etc) and now I can from home rather than at work.
So this was the first photo I scanned.
1987. Disneyland.
As you can see, my mom rocking the acid-wash jeans, my dad toward the end of his nasty habit (he quit not too many years after this), me-clearly not happy about being in the photo, and my grandma and grandpa. Unfortunately I don’t remember much of this trip as it was .. omg.. 20 years ago.
20 years ago… MAN.
