And so ends another Nablopomo.
What was accomplished this month in the Land of Jen?
A Matt Nathanson show (that I almost didn’t get into) that was not only awesome but also introduced me to new music (The Break and Repair Method)
I voted and by doing so, participated in making history. I also gained a new found pride in my country and hope for the future.
I got sucked into the world of ghost hunting television programs – Ghost Adventures, Ghost Hunters, Most Haunted, and Paranormal State.
I finally got to see a full Chihuly exhibit and it was gorgeous!
Went to Vegas! Saw my first Cirque show – KA (awesome), second Kathy Griffin show (awesome) and kind of broke even on gambling (awesome!)
Went on my first PhotojojoPhoto Safari – this one located on Treasure Island. It was great to just get out and shoot some photos. It was a wonderful day too, not too hot, cold or windy.
Quite an eventful month as a whole! Granted there were a few posts in between that lacked a bit a pizzazz (especially those I had to email in via my cell phone – gah, those sucked – but I wanted to participate in Nablopomo by the rules!)
Thanksgiving was yummy – well what I ate of it. After helping out with cooking, decorating and preparing.. I was just too tired to eat my plate of food. So I nibbled and skipped the “second round” – which I’m sure my body thanks me for.
One of the items I made was a recipe my mom found online for a yam dish. Officially, I call it the Crunchy Yammy Dish. I mashed two giant cans of cut yams and added things like sugar, vanilla extract and beaten eggs. Smoosh smoosh smoosh. It looked like poo. Bright orange poo. De-lish right? You spread the mush in the casserole dish and then get to work on the topping. This topping did not include the traditional mini marshmallows but instead a crumbly brown sugary topping. I mushed some butter, brown sugar, and flour together with pecans. It smelled SO GOOD. However, because the butter was too warm, it didn’t crumble as much as it should have. So we added more flour to it until it worked. I had to put gobs of it all over the top of the yammy mush. Pre-baking product looked like we were baking a dish of cat turds. But in the end it turned out quite yummy – so yummy that my uncle, who according to my mom never liked yammy dishes before, ended up snagging the entire casserole dish!
I normally dislike parades, but here I was, paying attention because it was a Foster’s Imaginary Friends float (and a friend of mine introduced me to this cute children’s show, it’s really goofy) and they start up with a song… only to Rick Roll the entire nation!! Brilliant!
I love it and was flipping out when it happened. Then I had to explain to my parents what Rick Rolling was.
In Modesto for Thanksgiving.
Looking forward to seeing family I haven’t seen in months and months. It’ll be nice to catch up, take some photos, and eat some yummy foods.
I made cupcakes — but the decoration didn’t work. I tried melting white chocolate onto fake leaves (as a mold).. blah blah.. fast forward to the peeling process. I broke more than I care to share. Dumped the project. Boo.
Maybe I will try again another day.
And on that day I will not burn the white chocolate.
I’ve been cleaning up my Google Reader list lately. Dropping various blogs/site I’ve been subscribed to for some time, yet not really keeping up with the posts. This would be great, if I would stop coming across NEW sites and adding them. I think for every one I delete, I throw in one or two more.
